Rory McIlroy

16.8C starting bright with plenty of sun with more cloud appearing during the day. Light breeze increasing in strength later.

Many thanks to everyone who dropped by to have a look at yesterday's 1095th blip and leave a comment.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went down to the Championship golf course before 9 o'clock this morning to see if we could get a photo or two of the golfers starting their challenge for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

We saw a number of big name pro golfers on the practise putting green and playing off the first tee. Ernie Els, Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington, and a personal favourite of mine Colin Montgomerie. The star of the day, who had drawn a bigger crowd than I have seen this early in the day at this tournament, was of course Rory McIlroy (this year's Open Champion, US PGA Champion, and European Ryder Cup Team member). I got this shot when he was practising his putting, before he went to start his round. He went on to record a one over par score of 73.

After lunch Maeve and I went for another walk. We went down to the shore and round in a loop of a couple of miles to get home.
