Amethyst

Tiffany call my brooch Fireworks, but the eight points on it remind me of something much more organic.

I love purple so cannot help but love amethyst as a stone. Its name comes from the Greek "amethystos" which means "not drunken" and it was thought that wearing the stone would protect the wearer from inebriation. The ancient Greeks and Romans made drinking vessels from it to prevent drunkenness. I think I'll just enjoy a whiskey and lemon in a glass from a petrol station and cope with the consequences!
