Charlotte Motor Speedway

We were up bright and early so as to be checked out of our condo by 10 am.

Before checking out I took a few pictures of Lake Lure from the deck of our condo. Then we went down to the lake again so R could get a few more pictures.

It was then on to Charlotte Motor Speedway!

Besides walking through the NASCAR “fan zone” this afternoon, we attended the Nationwide NASCAR race this evening. We really enjoy going to NASCAR races but prefer the less attended Nationwide races to the Sprint Cup races. We have been a few Sprint Cup races and the traffic is always a nightmare. As it is, we still left before the completion of the race so as to beat some of the traffic. We are staying about a half hour north of Charlotte and we have an early morning call tomorrow, so we didn’t want to get back to our hotel too late.

Tonight’s Nationwide race is the “300 Miles of Courage” race and a lot of the cars were sporting lots of pink! As a breast cancer survivor I can appreciate the support. Besides lots of pink, there is also lots of glass here!

Tomorrow is going to be another long day of driving, but in the end so worth it as we will be home! The kitties will like that, too.
