Mother on a Break

Here is the mother of of the chicks I blipped the other day, and partner to this chap. The apple table is handy for her because it is less than two metres from her nest.

The birds I’m seeing or hearing in, or from, my garden at present-

blackbirds, thrushes, starlings, yellow hammer, greenfinch, goldfinch, chaffinch, sparrows, dunnocks, waxeyes, welcome swallows, southern black-backed gulls, skylark, paradise ducks, pied oystercatchers, masked lapwings (spurred plovers), pigeons, and Australian magpies. The grey warbler has moved on, sadly, and the bellbird calls only rarely.

Today has been dark and wet, and as cold as a winter’s day.

A big day tomorrow!
