Rosyth dockyard and the Forth Bridges

Ah, that's better. More in keeping with the spirit of Mr Parr's fine book that I invoked on Monday. An image with no redeeming qualities whatsoever other than the supreme ugliness of that massive warship hangar. But to have it framed by a flat grey sky and a flat green field, is massive good luck. A sunny day or a blue, cloud-flecked sky would only have brightened it up and ruined it.

Normally, I'd crop to a square or a panoramic format but even that only made it more interesting than it deserved. I'd usually phatten up the colours but I made that mistake on Monday. No, this is precisely how it was.

I must admit it was a struggle to use it but if you live by the theme, you must die by it. So the fine monochromes of Old Rosyth Churchyard, suffering under the tender neglect of Fife Council, the colourful row of boats at Limekilns harbour and of course all the spring budding and blossoming along the way, had to go. Not today.

Go large to really appreciate what an amazing scene this is.
