Hadrian's Wall

You can't go to Northumberland and not go to Hadrian's Wall so our last day was a drive to Housesteads Roman Fort. Impressive, well preserved ruins and great views over the surrounding countryside. Plenty for a wee boy to clamber over and crawl through and very snigger-worthy communal loos.

After that it was a drive to the rather disappointing bustling metropolis of Hexham. Just enough for lunch, a wander around and a brief visit to the funfair so that Mandy could have all the loose change wrenched out of her pocket.
