A Grand Day Out

It was Bank Holiday Monday today so Tony and I took the train to York to take part in the Annual York City Race, orienteering around the streets and snickleways. It was a great race with some fiendish route choices and the usual tales from orienteering pals turning up snickleways which turned out to be dead ends, losing vital seconds. An added bonus was Tony winning M55 so we stayed for the prize-giving and then took a walk around the medieval city walls to get some photos of the Minster.

This blip is a more typical tourist shot of the front of the Minster with the very famous Rose Window which was fitted with stained glass in the 15th Century to commemorate the end of the War of the Roses. In the 1980s the Minster was struck by lightning and there was a serious fire in the wooden roof. It also cracked the stained glass and it had to be painstakingly restored - all 73 panels.

I was bored on the train on the way home and played with my camera so here is a blip especially for Lawrie! Can you tell what it is yet?!
