Murder in Malta

Day 1 in Malta
This morning started with an alarm call at 04:30 and being on the road by 05:00, On site we saw several large raptors leave their roost and head south to Africa. I also witnessed one Honey Buzzard shot and fall to the ground.

At 09:00 we were off to come an area called Mizeib. We're just back, the area is public land, 'looked after' by the FKK, I'm not sure what the Maltese is but the translation is laughingly the Federation for Hunting and Conservation.

In a short time and a small area we found about 80 birds, mainly Marsh Harrier (pictured right) and Honey Buzzard, but also small Falcons and also Hoopoe. All of these birds are protected under EU law.
