Just back from the Toast Martinborough Wine, Food & Music Festival in New Zealand's Wairarapa region. Another fantastic day out - great wine, food, music and company topped off by blue skies and 25 degrees C. It was our first family day out and Ailsa, just 8 weeks old, was a wee star.

This blip is of some vines at the Ata Rangi Estate where we sampled some outstanding Pinot Noir.

However, the day was tempered by Scotland's gut-wrenching defeat to Italy that put us out of the qualification picture for the 2008 European Football Championships. We deserved so much more but no-body blows it like Scotland.

Scotland can claim invention of the television, telephone, steam engine and penicillin but our football team has patented glorious failure over the years - nobody snatches defeat from the jaws of victory quite like us! Oh, well - here's the the 2010 World Cup campaign....South Africa here we come!
