horns of wilmington's cow

Song Thrush

Well, I'd gone out looking for Waxwings (and found them), but this Song Thrush was the real star at lunchtime. Good lunchtime really, heading out on the bike to the Bike Chain to return lights I'd been leant to get a video done, and pick up some bike cleaning stuff for another video, but I knew Waxwings had been reported in the area.

Heading back along the Water of Leith spotting a rather handsome Goosander, and a couple of lovely be-jacketed dogs.

The ride to work was interesting (still fun!) with the Icicle of Damocles hanging over me, and clearing ridges.

Better day. And just goes to prove I can take bird photos after the Kingfisher of two days ago... :P

p.s. when setting off, in your car, from an iced-over junction spinning your wheels wildly is not the way to get moving. Nice and easy does it, easy the clutch out, keep the car just on the verge of stalling. Evidence today suggests at least 80% of people on the road have no clue at all on how to drive in these conditions. But hey, they can just blame the council. S'not their fault (and I'll bet if it was suggested they should have winter driving training or have to put on winter tyres they'd complain about a nanny state).
