Knoydart New Year #1

Images from an idyllic week in the Knoydart peninsula with 14 friends, old (or should I say deep?) and newer (but definitely not shallower!)...

The usual week of hillwalking over New Year began with a walk over a Corbett named Beinn Bhuidhe. Michael and Helen took a seat on the verge of the path as we descended. Our group of ten had split. We were in no rush, and had waved off five others some time ago to begin to prepare dinner for the evening. As you will see, food takes a large part of these New Year weeks...

I met Michael and Helen (and many of the folk who will feature in later days) nearly 8 years ago. It doesn't feel that long. Now we are all well into the world of work. Well, I guess only if you can call Michael's role as a law fellow at Somerville, Oxford "the world of work". Helen is a hard-working but brilliant (by all accounts) young doctor, on her way to general practice. It seems like a long road- longer by far than the paths that led us in and out of the hills. That's okay, though, as the two of them seem to be enjoying the journey together.
