Hair of the Head

Thanks to Wiktionary I now know that pollarding comes from Middle English polle (?hair of the head?), (recorded in English since c.1290), from Middle Low German or Middle Dutch pol (?head, top?); the verb is from the noun.

There you go!

In Bristol, they seem to have been on a pollarding rampage in the last year.

The result? Much more light, much less leaf litter!

These reminded me of knuckles - there's something quite aggressive about them.

The weather was gorgeous today.

Son #2 and I went to a 1st Birthday party - crisps, jelly, cake and Rocky Road. What more could you wish for? Oh yes, a bit of Prosecco for the adults made things run smoothly.
