La vida de Annie

John

#1 daughter and I took our ex-neighbour John out for a pre-birthday lunch today; he will be 101 years young on Friday. Although quite deaf now, losing the sight in one eye, and unsteady walking, he still lives an independant life in his own house, with the occasional help of a drop-in carer. He is sharp as a tack and has considered opinions on current affairs and knows how people are feeling to an uncanny degree - he is the wisest and kindest person I know. The restaurant staff obviously share my view, as they put a candle on his dessert and sang Happy Birthday. I did take a shot of that, as a birthday candle embedded in a bowl of rhubarb crumble and custard is quite a bizarre sight, but decided to post this one of him with #1D to go with last year's of him with yours truly at his 100th birthday party. Have a great day on Friday with your visiting family, John. X.
