Saturday 15 January 2011: High as Kites
Not a good lighting day today. Warm, overcast with a sea mist hazing everything. So you will have to wait for the close-up of Schefflera flowers.
Farmers market this morning. Havoc bacon, cherries, Kakanui jersey bennie potatoes, organic yellow and green courgettes, apricots, and a couple of sweet treats all ended up in the shopping bag.
On the way home after a coffee we spied some colourful kites flying towards the heavens and decided to go and have a closer look. Fabulous sight. Enormous kites flying high, tethered to various car bumpers with myriad small kites being encouraged upwards. Lovely to see families enjoying the occasion. Lots of fathers and their sons rambling about and chocolates being handed out by a local radio station.
Chose this image from several taken because of the sky which was very Graeme Sydney. (for those of you who are non-local he is a local painter of some standing who also is a solid environmentalist who is unafraid to speak his mind)
