Playpark

Thought I'd give colour-popping a bit of a go. Never really tried it before, never had time! Didn't have time today as it turns out, Ben's nap was decidedly short.... Here's hoping that means he'll be tired out by 7.30 eh.

Battle lines were drawn this morning. It does not seem to matter that he has a huge amount of autonomy as it is, that he is in control of all sorts of areas, that he can choose, he is not dictated to a great deal - he still wants more control. And the battle lines have been drawn over nappies, clothing, and dinner time. This morning we were very very late to our toddler group - as in 45 minutes late, as in missed over half of it, thanks to battles of wills over getting dressed. Patience won out, thankfully, and off we went. As soon as the battle is over it's as if nothing ever happened, as far as Ben is concerned. I am left rather more stressed, however.

Anyway after tots I thought we'd go down to the park as he'd missed out on a lot of playtime, so we popped home and put shoes on (as he is in the wrap to get to tots he only wears slippers) and get his coat on. I asked if he'd like to ride his bike to the park, which was met with a resounding "yes!". He did pretty well riding his trike most of the way there, I only had to carry it a couple of short distances. I think we're going to have to start looking at balance bikes fairly soon - pretty much as soon as his legs are long enough he's going to be ready to have a go on them.

The pictures are of Ben's muddy shoes (it was very muddy at the park), him climbing down from the muddy climbing frame, and him on his trike considering whether the trike would cope with some off-roading. (It didn't cope, I carried it over the grass/mud in the end.)

We had a good play in the park and then who should arrive but Libby and Nat!! More playing and having fun, and then the guys from preschool arrived as well. The supervisor was with them (Aunty Sharon) and she came over and said hello. Ben got a bit worried that I was going to leave him with them and wanted lots of cuddles after that - no more playing for Ben *sigh* oh well. I'm sure he'll grow to love them eventually.

A short sharp shower sent us scurrying back to our house for a quick break, then Libby and Nat went off to get his hair cut and Ben and I had a bit of lunch. Then it was the very short nap! And now we're here.

Ben seems to have decided that yesterday's potty training was enough for now. Phew.

Off to the hospital in the morning for the annual diabetic eye check up, Ben's going to have to go in the pushchair so that he can remain strapped in while the nice man takes photographs of my eyeballs. Lucky me. Lucky him. Have to think of something nice to do afterwards while the drops wear off...
