Caught.....

Almost sunset when I found time to look around for a blippin' image.......

Fierce winds today and the garden has taken a bit of a beating. Saw this bedraggled feather caught up in a conglomeration of weeds, viola plants and the new shoots of the cotoneaster which beautifies the wall of our neighbours garage.

Made me think about how resilient a bird is - apparently made of nothing and as light as a feather, yet with a flick of a feather can catch an up draught and float in the heavens surveying all below or fold in its wings and plummet towards earth at a rate of knots comparable to the speed of light.

Have you ever watched how seagulls sit into the wind on a stormy day with their heads slightly forward and their body just millimeters above the surface on which they rest and they hardly quiver as the gusts buffet around them.

The albatross with its penchant for flying vast distances without landing and always returning to the same nesting place to brood the next generation.

The Piwakawaka (Fantail) flitting through the native forests, guarding our heritage with its peeping and piping. I once had a female piwakawaka alight on my little finger and the honour remains with me always............

So I genuflected before the captured feather, in honour of its frail strenght, and gained today's blip.
