Waiting for Jonny

Underneath the arches

The day started with my eldest daughter coming back from a sleep over covered in make up courtesy of her friend's Mum, I didn't have the heart to tell her she looked like a transvestite. Anyway if vigorous excercise is good enough for top transvestite Eddie Izzard and his uber marathon runs, then it's good enough for her.
She was over tired and wanted nothing but a film day, but in line with turning into my own parents I told the girls that we would go out for a " nice long walk " , " fresh air is good for you" etc etc repeat to fade .
We met up with a friend and her children and had a couple of hours in Hirst Woods which rather predictably are in the village I am now sponsored to mention every day!
As soon as we got there the girls forgot their sulks, we had a lovely walk. Mud+ fresh air + rivers + stone throwing ( into the river I mean, not in the Life of Brian style ) + seeing if we could guess the brand of all discoloured, discarded alcohol bottles = interesting walk .
Ok maybe we didn't do the last bit but there were too many cider bottles , shame as it's a beautiful woods.
To save you having to look at Woodpecker cider a la mud and slush, here is a blip of a surprise natural arch we found.
Just an old mature tree having bent into this shape, so pretty .
We are home now, the girls have the film on that they want but I am sure I can try and be a bad parent again later by telling them that
" vegetables make your hair curl " at tea time.
Hope you have all had a relaxing one . X
