It's a bit of an empty rule, isn't it? It's also a little odd, considering that, water level permitted, you can throw a line out everywhere else around the lake. And even ON the lake, if there's enough ice.
The reason it's only half a lake right now is because of a nasty weed called Eurasian watermilfoil that is messing things up. There are banners up saying: "Lake Saving in Progress", which sounds a lot more active than it looks right now. Still, I found online articles that explain in more details what they have been doing and it's pretty extensive.
Anything that helps NOT make Maple Lake look, but even more importantly, smell (and it's gagreflexinducingly bad) like a swamp is wonderful to me anyway.

We had planned on catching the sunrise and while we were out the door early enough, and in a scenic enough place (next to the hospital. Ha!) this was about as sunny as it got. And still is. I HDR'ed it a little to give it a bit of oomph.

An early Blip, as I plan on doing very little the rest of the day. Maybe sit in front of the window with a book and a blanket :)
