Saturday 26 February 2011: At the River...

After winter comes the summer. After night comes the dawn. After every storm, there comes clear, open skies.....

This is the DEP marina in Old Lyme. The water you see is the Connecticut River and it leads to Long Island Sound. The bridge in the far distance connects Old Lyme and Old Saybrook, where I lived for 8 years. There is a long boardwalk here, that takes you under a railroad bridge, and out into the marsh with a viewing deck at the end. From there you can see the Old Saybrook lighthouse on Saybrook Point, which was about 2 blocks from where I lived.

A famous resident that lived near the lighthouse was Katherine Hepburn, an actress who starred in movies with my 3rd cousin, Humphrey Bogart. She passed away in 2003.
