The Edge of the Wold

I am not alone.....

Sandside, Cumbria

When I saw this, I had an inkling of the feeling Robinson Crusoe had when he came across a human footprint in the sand of his desert island after 23 years alone. He wasn't pleased, he was scared and anxious. Here was a serious threat.

This is no snapper. He has a big expensive tripod, and a camera that looked even bigger than mine. His seriousness was demonstrated by his commitment to crossing deep creeks to get down to the water's edge, rather than snapping away on the Sandside promenade like me. The question is: is he a blipper? I thought I had Arnside and Sandside to myself. Should I spend the evening scanning the Date pages to see if anything appears?......Nah, I'll make a blip of him, we don't often get figures out there to add a bit of human interest to a picture.

I came home early today from our meeting in Preston, so I had the opportunity to get out and watch the sun go down in a cloudless sky. The forecast said we would spend most of the day under a layer of stratocumulus, but it turned out much better than that.

I made my presentation at the meeting. There was a mix-up with the Powerpoint files, and I was left without mine. Disaster was averted by resorting to old reliable media, pen and paper - a flipchart.

An odd meeting though, talking about how we are going to work in the new structure when none of us know if we are going to have a job in it, and we don't yet know the geographical boundaries of the Teams.

One or two people here have asked when we find out the results of our 1000 word survival statements. The scoring is going on now. This Friday, there is a get together of the Regional Managers to agree the final positions in the league table. We are told we will get letters telling us if we have been selected or relegated on 14th March, and I'm guessing there will be a vow of silence before then (which almost certainly will be broken). Strangely, I haven't thought much about it since I submitted my form last week. It was very much the topic today though.

There are more important things. Spring is moving quickly. Today I saw flowering daffodils where yesterday there were none. This weekend could be a wild daffodil blip.
