Damsons

Today's the day ......................... to smell the blossom

Glorious day today - warm enough for people to be out in t-shirts. Saw my first peacock butterfly of the year, but it was too quick for me to blip it!

So here instead is some damson blossom from one of the two trees that we have in the garden. We grew them from cuttings and are very proud that they are now proper trees which hopefully will have a good crop of damsons come the end of the summer.

Damsons are a bit of a specially of the area around here called the Lyth Valley. There is always a Damson Day - this year on the 16th April - when you can go and find every conceivable way that damsons can used to make something or other.

If you're quick you could make a weekend of it and stay in Life of Tiree's fabulous guesthouse situated right in the Lyth Valley .......................
