Sedum on Ice

Sedum confusum, the lesser Mexican stonecrop.

For many years I kept this plant inside, protected from the elements. It was always plain green. When I moved to the country the pot was somehow lost among the large number of outdoor pots. By the time it came to my attention it had been in frosty conditions for several weeks. And what a transformation! The edges of the leaves had turned a soft orange colour. It thrives in the elements.

My small plant has now spread into big clumps. In summer it is bright green and has lemon yellow flowers.
