Prairie Dog

More beautiful weather today. Nienke, Inge, Ellis and me visited the zoo in Emmen together with my mom and dad and my brother Erwin, his wife Marlize and their daughter Femke. I took almost 200 pictures so it was a bit difficult to decide:

* the elephants were cooled down by a hose, which they really seemed to like.
* the butterfly garden is always a delight for photographers.
* the Humboldt penguins had laid eggs and could be watched under water too.

And last but not least: there was an elephant parade because of the 75th anniversary of the zoo and the fact that the zoo in Emmen has the largest elephant herd in Europe. If I understand correctly, this parade is linked to the parade in London as well. You may have seen some blips like this one from Lesley. I have created a collage too, click here to view.

Most of the elephant art is on zoo grounds, but some are in the city centre of Emmen. Sadly, some of the elephants in the centre have been vandalized and need to be repaired. I really can't understand why anyone would do that; it's pathetic!

Anyway, back to the blip. I have chosen to go for a prairie dog, mostly because they are so cute and photogenic... This one looks quite good bigger, if you don't mind me saying.

Off to put the children to bed. Oh, I just noticed that I'm at exactly 30,000 views. Wow...

Enjoy your weekend!
