Lali's World

By Lali

Peace and quiet.

Sorry to all of those who were really enjoying my series, but I only run them for 12 days. That's hard enough, I think. Not easy to keep going a theme for so long, but I might come back to this one because I actually really enjoyed it.

I'm calling this picture peace and quiet, because this square, hidden behind the many beautiful closes you can find in the Royal Mile, is actually a haven for silence and peacefulness during the Edinburgh Festival in the summer. This is actually my favourtie place to have my lunch in the summer. In here you will find the Writers' Museum as well.

I liked how the orange wall contrasted with the rest of subtler colours of the buildings surrounding the square.

Today I started my day with a migraine. The really strong painkillers I brought with me from Barcelona last time I was there didn't help. My migraine lasted for most of my shift at work. Thank god it was a quiet day!

Today as well I met a cooper for the first time, in the shop. He used to hand make casks for the North British Distillery in Gorgie, when coopers still forced the hoops into place using a hammer and driver. Nowadays this job has been replaced by machines. Most of the coopers' work nowadays involves fixing and reconditioning old casks. It was nice talking to him.

After work I went to the pub, cause one of my workmates was celebrating his birthday, but I only stayed for one drink because I didn't want that horrible migraine to come back tomorrow on my day off!

Thanks very much for your support and your nice comments. I really appreciate it. I hope you all had a nice day.

Off tomorrow! :)
