While on my runs

Under a street lamp

Today's blip is another interpretation of underneath, the subject for this week's challenge.

Without yesterday's rather self indulgent whinge (apologies), I again went for a pre dawn run, and again all possible photos were in the dark. After about 20 minutes on the streets I entered Cox's Bay Reserve, and shortly after discovered the origin of the Thud, Thudthudthud, Thud I had been hearing as I approached. Under the light of a street lamp two young English women (from their accents) were indulging in some kickboxing training.

I stopped, and asked if they minded if I took their photograph while they continued. "WHY?" So I tried to explain about blipfoto, and managed well enough (although I later suspect that they think it is MY website), so that I was invited to "Knock yerself out"! And they went back to their training.

I wondered afterwards if I should have used the flash, and having seen this one (of three shots) I am glad that I didn't. The kickboxer's left leg is invisible (to all attempted edits!); it was moving too fast to register. Oddly enough, its shadow can be seen on the ground. Although I did wonder if her foot was visible against her coach's gloves, I think not.

I have made just two modifications to the camera data. I decreased the shadow very slightly; doing more reduced the evidence of her leg in the shadow on the ground without producing evidence in the air. It clearly is lost in the dark background plus the rapid movement. Seecondly I have reduced the amount of pixilation somewhat.

Technically, not a great photo; as a documentary shot, I really like it, and like it as it is.
