Late Night Ferry!

Had a lovely evening at a gathering of friends to celebrate the summer solstice...what a joke..it was so cold, i couldn't imagine heading outside the bone fire that was started!

Jikta, who was hosting this party, lives about an hour away from me....and she held the party in her little summer cottage.....which is on her property...and which she described as being up a bit of a rough path! Well, i wasn't at all prepared for the hike i had to make...it was like climbing a bloody mountain...and i was wearing my party boots....in other words totally inappropriate foot ware for this type of hike. Not so bad on the way up, but the down ward journey was an other story! When she said rough....what she should have said was rolling stones, holes....boulders and god knows what else. throw in there the darkness, it was around 10.45pm when i left with a couple of others....and a couple of glasses of wine....well you can imagine!!! i was less than graceful, but i made it back down the hill.

The drive back is always interesting, especially when i'm alone! the winding roads, the desolate feeling - and a still somewhat unfamiliar landscape. So, I'm always very happy to reach the Englishtown Ferry! I love this little ferry...the guys that run it are so delightful, in all weather they are out there.....ferrying us back and forth!!

So, happy Summer Solstice from Cape Breton Island! Hahahaha....we have the wood stove on this evening!!!
