Probably a shot of a Jnr

Wish You Were Here

A really emotional trip to Bramall Lane today. There were incredibly moving tributes to Gary Speed - the first a video montage of his contributions to the club with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here playing over the pictures. It is one of my favourite songs, and one of only a few things I can remember how to play on the guitar. The whole crowd watched in tearful silence.

Then, just before kick off the announcer, the wonderful Gary Sinclair, read a lengthy piece that could not have been written any better. How he kept his composure I will never know, as he talked about Speed the meaning of the words touched everyone. The emotions filled the stadium, such a contrast to the usual feelings that echo round such a place.

You could tell how hard it had hit everyone, as our opponents scored after a couple of minutes and there was almost no reaction from our fans - it seemed such an insignificance given the circumstances. Fortunately the team fought back and it ended up a favourable 3-2. Following Ched Evans' first goal he lifted his shirt to display the message "Rest In Peace Speedo". Lovely to see the ref forgo the obligatory yellow card for the 'offence' (I hear that apparently the Torquay staff asked him not too).

Going to get back to Blipping now I think - thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post - you really are the loveliest people in the world. If it weren't a bit creepy and probably illegal, I'd hunt you all down and kiss each and every one of you ;)
