We know its autumn ...

.. because it is wet, and because the hibiscus is in flower.

On my run today, I went to the top of Maungawhau, leaving late enough that the sun would rise while I was out. Too much cloud. Some delicate shades in the sky and grey cityscapes failed to enthuse.

We had stayed in Auckland last night, and it was just as well for daughter J that we did. Driving her mother's car to spend the evening with a friend, she had just left when i was approached by a neighbour who wanted to know if she knew that she had a completely flat rear tyre. I resisted asking why he hadn't thought to say or do something BEFORE she drove away.

Mobile phones have their uses. Called her, and got her stopped at traffic lights nearby so she could answer, and said for her to park then call me to say where. Then Pa to the rescue. Fortunately, the spare is a full size tyre rather than the dinky ones usual on Japanese cars, and she could have her evening safely.

Today we had to replace both rear tyres, and after finishing a report for the Court, we headed North, into rain. Looking at my few run photos from this morning the ever resourceful S suggested a picture of the hibiscus flower instead. Went out with the Pentax, on macro mode and with the flash on. And this is the result.

The rain drops were placed naturally by the drizzly rain.
