Sunday 1 April 2012: Swan

Back home after a week away. With the long evenings I popped down to the local nature reserve with the long lens. A couple of unexpected pictures of hot air balloons going overhead, and some failed attempts at shooting midges... There were even a group of 5-6 mallard drakes being aggressively friendly with a mallard hen. Spring must be here.

A couple of young swans were being quite inquisitive allowing for some good shots. They haven't quite got their full white plumage and the bills have not yet taken on the bright orange, which in some ways makes them more interesting.
