Baby Boy Peacock

Apparently this is how you tell boys from girls. The boys crowns develop long before the girls.

We took our senior students out this morning to watch some of their schoolmates competing in the National Secondary School Kayaking at Owen River (just north of Murchison). On the way home it seemed appropriate to stop at the Red Barn and shout them an iced chocolate. While we were sitting on the terrace enjoying them Mumma peahen brought her brood to visit us.

I'm pleased to say that so far all 5 of them are surviving - 3 appear to be boys and 2 girls.

They've certainly grown since I first met them.
