Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Friday, April 24, 2015 -- All Together for Hours

Yesterday when I sent a text to our daughter, Deidre,  to let her know how very much I appreciated getting her lovely Thank You note, we soon found ourselves on the phone talking (something that I do not do much because I just don't enjoy talking on the phone). She mentioned that we should get together today.

So here were are this morning -- all of us rather "roughing-it" with our hair not quite styled, but who cares. She brought her "juicer" machine and lots of veggies and lots of fruit and made juice for us and she also brought a box of whole grain frozen waffles and organic maple syrup. She knows that we have been on a vegan diet since this past December and she is always encouraging us in that department.

She also brought our granddaughter's dog with her, little Barkley. So our three pups were delighted. Barkley was a little nervous, but he eventually warmed-up to the whole crew and when I fixed a breakfast plate for each of our three, I also made one for him and he loved it.

As we ate breakfast, our daughter decided to read a page of her daily devotional to us and that was meaningful. Our daughter and her husband have been married for 27 years on May 14th, but they have been separated for almost 3 years and this has been a very difficult time for the entire family. Our daughter's two young adult kids are not very thrilled that they mom has left their dad and you can just imagine where the story goes from there.

We are thrilled that our daughter and son-in-law have remained friends. We love our son-in-law very much.  Currently our daughter is staying at their house to take care of the three family dogs while John, our son-in-law, has been out-of-town due to business.

Deed stayed for a number of hours today just catching-up with us and when she did gather her things and Barkley to head out to her car and get back to the house, we walked out with her to say goodbye and wave. Waving seems to be a family tradition for us.

So overall it was a terrific day and we have a few photos to prove it.

Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
