Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch and walkies

Every morning I wake up about 6am (well, my bladder wakes me up) and I think, 'I could get up (soon) and go swimming...' I lie there, thinking admirable thoughts - and suddenly it's 8am (yes, I usually drift off again!) and time to get up for Archie. Of course, I could still go at that time, but the idea's gone for the day. One of these days!

Today we met up with a pal at the Water of Leith Cafe, which we discovered last week, and it's dog friendly. We had the reserved window seat, and Archie was SO good - he just watched everyone coming and going. Not a peep. We had a great lunch and a good catch up with Z - the holidays (for those who are working) are going by so fast.

From there we walked along the Water of Leith, back towards Stockbridge. Archie had a good run around and met a few dogs (no barking). I even lifted him up to say hello to a gorgeous wee schnauzer, whose back garden was next to the path. They snuffled and whimpered and really really wanted to play, but not possible.

We then met a lady with a young Staffie (on a lead). We were rather wary, and so was the Staffie owner, but the dogs just said hello nicely. Then the owner said, 'This is Archie. I remember him.' Turns out she was from the fab pet shop we'd been in when we dropped him at the sitter at Easter. Mind you, we did spend quite a lot in her shop, which could be why she remembered us. She was taking the young Staffie out for a friend, doing socialising/training, as she was a wee rescue dog. I really admire people who do this.

We walked along the path, past a big lake, but there was too much duck poo around for Archie to be off the lead! What fun he would have had eating and rolling in it. Yuck.

And yes! More blue skies.
