June Challenge- Playful - Playing Ducks and Drakes

Ducks' Ditty

All along the backwater,
Through the rushes tall,
Ducks are a-dabbling,
Up tails all!

Ducks' tails, drakes' tails,
Yellow feet a-quiver,
Yellow bills all out of sight
Busy in the river!

Slushy green undergrowth
Where the roach swim-
Here we keep our larder,
Cool and full and dim.

Everyone for what he likes!
We like to be
Heads down, tails up,
Dabbling free!

High in the blue above
Swifts whirl and call-
We are down a-dabbling
Up tails all!

Yes, they're Canada Geese, but 2 are playing at being ducks in the style of Wind in the Willows, so they're being playful. I shall ignore the obvious fact that they were feeding or gathering the gravel which they need from the bottom of the lake.

Discovered that the lake in Wardown Park in the centre of town now has a heron, if I had known that I would have taken a different lens.

Last day of the June Challenge, thanks to MissyMoo for posting it. Not sure what I am doing for July, I'll probably find a challenge somewhere.
