Mayapples and leaf litter

Today is the first day of a self-imposed challenge. I am going to put my 70-300mm lens in "mothballs" temporarily and pretend that I only have one lens: the 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Nikon D40. I haven't used it for months, so this will put a whole new slant on my photo walks.

Today's experiment took me off the path and down into the leaf litter to get up close and personal with some mayapples. My knees might not like me so much for all the getting up and down, but I figure that's just another one of the sacrifices a blipper must make.

I wonder what I will find tomorrow?
