“Nice weather for ducks,” as they say

It started a bit wet, and we couldn’t look at the spectacular scenery around Lake Iseo from an open deck.

But by the time we had cruised down to the fascinating island of Monte Isola, and disembarked to explore, the rain had gone.

I opted to walk along the path to the west, listening with Merlin to the birds (spotted flycatcher was my star of the day.)

My friend headed high up to the cemetery (and her Merlin found a Firecrest….mind you, he also found a Hoopoe yesterday).

Back for a local Franciacorta wine and to watch the bird action as a scrounging Swan asserted himself, and cormorants and grebes kept their distance.

A mummy Mallard and five little ones kept out of trouble, but at one point, this youngster climbed on some steps. Mum sorted things (Extra) and he returned to swim. It’s hard work being a duckling with all these tourists to avoid.
