High and Dry

I could have entitled this - Listen to the Locals!!! The owner of this Drascombe Lugger had moored it with what was described as a toilet chain. Those of you who remember such things will understand that it was rather flimsy and not really up to the job of holding any sort of boat in any sort of weather! The owner had had this pointed out to him by various local boat owners.

Although the weather was very wild a few days ago, it hasn't been that bad over the last 24 hours, but this afternoon she came adrift. Our friends noticed her from their kitchen window, in the shallows below their house, and father and daughter bravely waded out and pulled her ashore. They raised the centre board and outboard and moored her to their garden wall - as you do in these situations! Never a dull moment here!

On a non-nautical note we have been without electricity all day today. It flickered a couple of times about 10pm last night and was off and on during the night. It was then off completely from just after 8am until 6.30pm this evening. The hydro board said it was due to a faulty wind turbine! Damn the things! I feel a rant coming on . . . . !
