Take Off ..........

........... the early blipper catches the .... heron (couldn't find any worms!).

As there is quite a lot of water around here (in the dykes and ditches) there are also a lot of herons .... not easy to catch as they are very skittish but with the long lens it's a little easier!! I had a couple that were head-less, one that was foot-less and one that was tail-less (and a lot that were very blurred) - this is the only in-focus, complete heron!!! I like the dew on the grass too.

Handheld, full zoom - slightly lightened and sharpened - and that's all folks!
I have found with this 50-500mm lens I really need to up the ISO a lot!! Any tips??

Bigger wings are better.............

Thank you so much for shining the spotlight on Mr Caterpillar yesterday - he fairly glowed with pride (and so did I!!)

Might be having a mini-blipmeet this evening (yay!) if we can coordinate - the main aim is to try for some good b/w shots for camera school - we only have a few more days before submitting our "homework" - watch out Newark-on-Trent - you have been warned!!! :-))
