Seen along the Greensand Way near Linton

I went to the annual pre-season rugby referee's conference at Crawley this morning where refs from Kent and Sussex Societies met to learn about the new laws for the coming season. The most important change is the scum engagement process which will now be "crouch, bind, set" which is designed to eliminate the number of collapsed scrums that happen at the higher level of the game - if you watched any international rugby match in the past few seasons you will have noticed how often the scrum collapsed and how much time in a game was lost to resetting such scrums.

We were planning to go the the gym when I got back from the conference - a good idea as there was plenty of food at the conference; bacon butties when we arrived and a full blown buffet lunch at the end - but the weather was so nice we decided to go for a walk instead.

So, after some thought we went back to Linton and walked east along the Greensand Way on a round trip of just over 6 miles. And a most wonderful amble it turned out to be, through the apple orchards and past secluded houses and hamlets in the warm late afternoon sunshine. I took lots of shots of the landscape but this impromptu shot of a Parish Boundary marker from 1802 caught my eye. Just looked over the fence and there it was.

A pleasant evening followed, with much drowsiness after a mackerel and beetroot salad, cheesecake and a couple of glasses of wine.

See Linton in January
See the end of a walk in August
