Walking to Assembly

Today we were orienteering in the Compass Sport Cup in the Forest of Dean, which is an inter-club competition. Our club won last year but we were thin on the ground at the event today, probably because of the distance from home, so we could only finish in sixth place. However, Tony was our highest scorer, finishing first on his course, woo hoo!

As we walked the kilometre or so from the car parking to the Assembly Field today, mist was still floating through the forest and the sun was doing its best to break through. I blipped this on one of the forest tracks looking back on orienteers walking up through the mist.

It was an enjoyable day's orienteering but coming home was scary as we drove through a very heavy rainstorm alongside the River Severn. The roads were awash and the windscreen wipers struggling to cope. How is it that some drivers continue to drive as if it was a perfectly normal day? Thankfully we are now home and relaxing in front of Downton!
