Constructive use of time

The senior management team meeting went really well today - many important decisions were made!

Me, the head and one of the other deputies have a monkey each which I bought for us last year - since then, other staff have also bought us monkeys so I think we now have 6 between us. The monkey represents a job that somehow you pick up and run with, even though its not your responsibilty - it is some sort of management training phrase - and the three of us quite often end up picking up "other people's monkeys" in our day to day work. Sometimes we take our cuddly monkeys to meetings and when it looks like one of us is about to get stitched up, the monkey does physically get passed over.

The monkeys have been known to be left hanging around - often on the coat rack in the conference room - which causes no end of confusion to visitors to the school who wonder why they (the monkeys) are there. We remove them for OFSTED visits!

Anyway, the story today was that the Head and deputy were out of school this morning, so after teaching my lesson this morning, I rounded up the monkeys and put them in the Head's office, a la SMT meeting. I then took the photo and sent it via MMS to the deputy whilst he was in his meeting, with a note that read

"In your absence, the senior team have met and decided that we are paying for Sarah's Hen party in Guam with a private cocktail waiter. Enjoy your meeting. We are missing you both terribly"

Guam and the cocktail waiter is another story - one of my colleague's sons is a superb cocktail waiter and has been responsible for opening / launching the cocktail bars at a number of TGI Fridays outlets and has won competitions for his knowledge and skill in making evil drinks. he is off to Guam shortly to open a new branch there apparently. Hence Guam and the cocktail waiter.

Early finish this afternoon - fire drill at school which was executed exceptionally well, then straight home - was at the gym by 4.20 - home by 5.30, showered, collected James, home, Asda, tea ...and its not even 8pm yet.

Off to eat my pizza.

Thanks to those of you who had a peak at the archive blips - if you missed them, there's a link on yesterday's blip.
