Diary of an Edinburgher

New Bench. At last.

I must say, the Games Opening Ceremony was brilliant last night (apart from being too long). Well done Glasgow. And the TV coverage is great - the red button gives you badminton, table tennis, squash - all games that you rarely see on TV. Terrific. Archie and I have been watching plenty. That Triathlon event is sheer torture! Who would want to do that to their bodies? Mind you, to be that fit must be amazing.

There was a Marathon on too. No, not on TV - in our front garden! We assembled our new garden bench, and it took hours! We painted the green metalwork ends last night. Thanks A&B - your house warming present has been bought at last - you just need to come and sit on it now.

Archie is on probation in his whole house access. He loves trotting from room to room, and at the moment is charging round with one of his toys - he adores the long hall corridor, skidding on rugs. He doesn't touch electric wires, take coal out of the coal scuttle, or help himself to the firewood. He’s sussed out my behind the sofa hiding place, but loves playing chasey with one of his toys - charging past as I pretend to catch him. So far so good.

Here he is smiling on the new bench, little tail a-wagging. He suddenly looks HUGE! He ripped up the cardboard and polystyrene packaging. He was a great help tidying up the packaging.
