AT THE MATCH

Another early start and this time we headed for Jarrow. Becky had been saving all her pennie so she could go to the Barbour Outlet Shop and look for some bargains. Lots of stuff at greatly reduced prices. Only thing is that Barbour stuff is very very expensive in the first place. However all 3 of us made purchases. Mike bought a lovely tweed jacket and a wax jacket. Becky bought 3 jumpers, a wax jacket and a quilted jacket. I bought a wax jacket and a shopping bag.

Then it was off to Newcastle. We parked the car and walked to a pub near the Quayside where we had booked a table for lunch. This pub is special to me as its where I had my very informal wedding reception. It was really just a few drinks with family and friends. In those days it was called The Newcastle Arms - this name is still shown on the side of the building. It is now called The Bridge Tavern. Its a very appropriate name as the pub is nestled underneath the Tyne Bridge. For my meal I had rabbit pie, creamy mash and greens Lots of syns but I fancied a treat.

After the meal we walked into the city centre and headed for St James Park - home of Newcastle United Football Club. We had a look in the Club shop and then went to sit in our seats.

Kick off was 4pm. Before that match wreaths were laid and we had a minutes silence to remember the 2 Newcastle fans who sadly lost their lives on Malaysian Airways Flight MH17. There was also a minutes applause on the 17th minute of the match.

Lots of new faces in the Newcastle side. However some things never change. Newcastle lost 2 goals to nil.

The Forum Challenge for today is Sunday Style - so here are Becky and me at the match wearing our very stylish Newcastle scarves. Haway the lads!.

Then it was back home where Mike cooked us a lovely Sunday roast.

Another evening just relaxing together.

Total steps today - 15,012.

I have backblipped yesterday - FALCONER
