Sprinkled with sunshine

Today was just one of those days. One of those days when everything fits into place with hardly any effort at all. One of those days sprinkled with sunshine and friendship.

Shielwill and willwynbedw came to our house this morning and we sat outside in the sun, with coffee and chat. We talked about everything and found so many links in our lives and experiences. Eventually we dragged ourselves away and went for lunch at the Bistro in Kirkby Thore, a place that is fast becoming our favourite place to eat. A lovely lunch, glass of wine and lots more chat.

A few minutes down the road and we were parked and walking through the fields in the sunshine, with lovely views of the fells and valley and river. Walking towards the little disused but preserved church in the field that we discovered a few weeks ago. They were as entranced with it as we had been. It is the most beautiful place and just invites quiet contemplation. This picture of Sheil captures that feeling. The history, the beauty and lived in atmosphere of this lovely place invites one to just be quiet and still and to think.

A return via a few landmarks, filling gaps in Will’s map. Then we arrived at the Bolton Pinfold and two more people have been able to touch and gaze with awe at one of the wonderful cairns.

Back for tea and cake and more chat, until the sun sinking reminded us that all good things come to a end. Thank you both for a magical day and thank you to Blip for enabling us to get to know each other. More adventures in the future.
