Solace Day 6: Hold Up At Foxton

The day started so well, we were on the move early and decided to fill the water tank at the top of the Foxton staircase of 10 locks. I went to report to the lock-keeper, as is necessary and he informed me that the “works” boat had just gone in to do maintenance, then there would be a fleet of boats coming up before it was our turn to go down. The “works boat would let us all pass in the middle pound. It would be about an hour!

Well, we complain when we think the Canals and River Trust don’t do enough on the upkeep of the waterways but we didn’t want them here this morning. It was actually 3 hrs 20 mins before we got to the bottom of the locks.

This is Solace at the bottom gate.
