Puponga mailbox

Over to Golden Bay in beautiful weather.

Took a drive out to Cape Farewell - the northernmost tip of the South Island -and watched the sun go down. Very nice.

On the drive up there you pass through Puponga - scene of many a whale rescue over the years (due to the shallow beach which you can just see through the grass in this shot).

It's a place with about a two dozen houses, no shops and no gas station although clearly the postie does deliver in these parts! Next stop from Puponga - Farewell Spit
