a day in the life of Jack

Butterfly!!

A rainy day here in Connecticut...we had plans to go to Mystic Seaport today, but the weather wasn't going to work with us. We needed a 'rainy day' plan!

We decided to head up to Massachusetts to visit Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory. We were here when Jack was just 18 months old, and one of my favorite photos is of Jack with a butterfly that landed on his shoulder.

Now, Jack is almost 4 (in a couple of days!!!) and is able to walk around, check things out on his own, and ask lots of questions!

He started out for the first half hour walking around with his finger out, just hoping a butterfly would land on it, but they never did. I decided to help things out a bit by seeing if a butterfly would 'walk' onto my finger from a leaf. A couple just flew away, but I did get this guy to hang on! I carefully brought him over to Jack and placed it on his finger. The butterfly decided it liked being on Jacks shirt better! Jack stood very still and was pretty excited!!

Afterwards, we headed over to The Yankee Candle Factory for a litte while where Jack, amoungst other things, got to see Santa Claus (and even did a craft with him!!). We topped off the day by grabbing some dinner at Bugaboo Creek. Jack loves this place because there are animals (moose, deer, owls, etc.) on the wall that every once in a while 'come alive', and start talking and moving around!!

Turned out to be a great day after all!
