For my 15th birthday i asked for a (film, we were in the very early days of digital then, my dad had a dycam but he was way ahead of the trend) camera so that when I was older I would have pictures and memories of my friends and myself at that age, as I realised if I didn't I would grow old with only family holiday snaps as a reminder of youth. For years I took and printed these photos, filling pinboards and photo albums of drunken nights out, festivals and my dogs. My film camera eventually turned digital and so did my pinboard, posting numerous facebook albums.
It's now a decade later and thanks to my sister-in-law I've been introduced to photo-blipping. In that decade I have moved away from those friends, can no longer afford festivals and my first dogs have gone to doggy heaven. On the plus side I am relishing my years as a twenty-something, without any dependents, living (on the bare minimum) in London and whilst I still have the drunken photos I don't have the seemingly boring, everyday images to remind my-future-self, who will eventually move back to the country, of the life I led in my twenty-somethings.
So here's to my future self, who's hopefully sitting in a beautiful house in the country, with a dog or two...
