I like taking photographs - at home, in the garden, on walks and on travels - and am enjoying sharing some of them here on Blipfoto. I love looking at photographs too, and it's inspiring the see the huge range of creative images that are posted here.

At the moment I seem mostly to take photographs in the garden - there's always something new unfolding there, although it's not always easy to find. Everything is constantly changing as plants and animals come and go according to their seasons. I like trying to record a little of the simple beauty of this annual cycle.

I have a particular interest in monochrome images from the twentieth century. When I first took photographs, as a teenager, it was all black and white (at least as far as home processing was concerned). My father had a small darkroom under the stairs in our family house, and I can still recall being allowed in for the first time, aged about five I think, to watch him printing photographs. Seeing the image appear on the sheet of white paper was a magical experience. Using a digital camera is very different from that, but in its way just as exciting, and has made it so much easier to enjoy making, and sharing, images.
