Taking a photograph every day and posting it on this site seemed like a fun challenge when I started. I imagined I might be able to take a decent photograph most days and a great photograph some days.
After well over 2000 daily “blips” since I started, I realise that life gets in the way and many days don’t provide the opportunity or inspiration for a good photograph, but I still manage to find some kind of image each day. On a day when I do find the opportunity to take a number of pleasing photographs, choosing just one to represent the day can be the real challenge. (I seldom post “extras” as I enjoy the original concept of this site that users had to limit themselves to just the one image each day.)
I have gained several benefits from this site.
First, I always carry a camera with me (even if, on rare occasions, it is just the camera in my phone). It encourages me to be more aware of my surroundings and I am constantly on the lookout for photographic opportunities. As a result I know I have captured successful photographs which I might otherwise have missed.
Secondly, I have enjoyed interacting with other blippers – and meeting some of them in the real world!
Finally, my journal provides me a wonderful record of my life over the last few years, and it gives me a great deal of pleasure to browse back through past entries and be reminded of places I have been and activities and events I have enjoyed.
Thank you to all those who comment on my blips and who give me stars or hearts. I am not always good at returning the favour, but I do enjoy browsing through others’ journals and will comment when I can.
