Food Train is an award-winning Scottish charity and social enterprise. Since 1995 it has been making life easier for older people, providing vital services to those no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty, or disability.
It has been a 26-year ambition to acquire a Dumfries town centre base to play a major part in our work to improve the lives of older people. This ambition has been realised, and we are about to transform a former council building into our first purpose-created headquarters and community hub, offering advice and activities for older people, as well as a venue for Food Train’s befriending groups, widely recognised for their valuable role in tackling loneliness among older people.
We have appointed a local Annan-based solutions business Eco Group to lead the renovations which are expected to take at least 5 months.
We are thrilled that work is starting this week and can’t wait to have a permanent new home. Follow our photo journey………
